day 25 (1.28.09)

The past week hasn't been too eventful. I didn't plan any trip for the weekend because I was supposed to go eat calcotada on saturday (the typical spanish onion dish) but it was canceled because it was on Tibidabo (the largest mountain in Barcelona) and the wind storm on Saturday blew the roof off of the resturant. We couldnt even do the hike up to the resturant because so many trees were down. It was actually really scary because many light posts we knocked over and broken glass was all over the city. All of the motorcycles that usually line the blocks were knocked down also. It was really cold and there wasnt much going on so a group of us decided to hike up Monjuic (the small mountain on the coast in Barcelona) the picture is of the group of us hiding outside of the castle from the wind.
Monday night we went to a party in a mansion outside of the city. One of our Spanish friends, Marco, told all of us to come -- and that the Barca futbol team would be there. I didnt believe him, but I figured it would be fun anyway. It ended up being Giovanni Dos Santos' house (he used to play on the team, and I think he also played for Mexico??) anyway- I didnt really talk to him much but we talked to his brothers/cousins theyre in the pictures.
This week I also started all of my classes and they aren't looking too difficult. One of them is my "culture" course, we basically take a field trip every week to see different areas of the city and learn "Barcelona from past to present" Ill be a great tour guide for those of you who are visiting! My business classes are pretty interesting also because we are going to go meet with and tour large Spanish companies. We are going to a brewery and to Mango, the clothing store's manufacturing plant for sure-- and I'm pretty sure a few others as well.
Tommorrow I leave for Paris so Im sure I will have lots to say and pictures to put up Sunday night when I return!
Adios :)

Let me know....Talk to you soon! :-)
