I FINALLY got here. After a 9 hour layover, horribly uncomfortable 8 hour flight, and a few bus rides I arrived at the hotel where we stay the first night for our orientation. The hotel is beautiful and somehow I managed to get my own room! (With a huge bathroom, huge bed, flatscreen TV, free wireless, and pretty view) I have already made some friends- I got lucky enough to sit by a guy on the plane who is in my program, and I have a few girls who I have been hanging out with and are in rooms just down the hall. Today 190 of us got in, many people very late and with lost luggage, I was a lucky one so while we waited for the madness to cool we got to explore! We are staying in a section of the city that is very beautiful and close to the sea. I windown shopped all day and walked around taking pictures with some friends. Then we had meetings to go over a bunch of boring stuff and all of us were so tired it was miserable. At 9 (an early time for Spaniards) we are having dinner and then we all are going to bed. We wanted to go out but realized we lack energy. Even after only being here for one day we got a taste of Spain's culture. Like the fact that NOTHING starts on time (there wasnt anyone waiting at the airport with a CIEE sign as promised, our meetings start late and run way over time, even our shuttle came very late) and people are very touchy (when they talk to you they hold your arm or shoulder, and many kisses on the cheeks are given!) All in all I am REALLY excited about what is to come and REALLY nervous to meet my host family. I will keep you posted on my internet situation and how/when we can chat on skype when I figure everything out. Love you all :)
Adios!!
