day 43 (2.15.09)

On friday I finished up class and hurried to meet up with my friends Betsy and Sarah from IU. Sarah had another friend who is studying in Sevilla meet them in Barcelona, and Betsy brought a friend that she has made on her program in the Netherlands, and one of the girls who was sharing their hostel room came along too. I played tour guide and showed them around the city, we took some cute pictures and went out together that night. I took them to Oveja Negra (one of my favorite bars) but it was an early night because they were tired from traveling and sight seeing.
Saturday I went to Calcotada, (the trip that was rescheduled from the wind storm). It was SOOO much fun! We ate calcotes, which are long onions that you dip in sauce, lamb chops, spanish sausage, pan con tomate, tortilla espanola, and drank lots of vino from a spout. The place we went was supposed to be very traditional country food. Everything was cooked in Spanish clay roof tiles over a wood burning fire, we ate with bibs on, and drank out of spouts because traditionally they would do that with large groups when they didnt have enough cups for everyone to have their own wine glass but they didnt want to share germs all on one goblet.
Today I went to the market and out to lunch with friends and then to go see "Mi nombre es Harvey Milk" also known as "Milk" in the US. I really loved it.. a nice change from "la duda" aka "doubt" that I saw the other week and hated.
